Honda Unveils New 'Honda 0' EV Series with Innovative Concepts
January 24 2024,
Honda has officially announced the launch of its new global electric vehicle (EV) series, the "Honda 0 Series," set to debut in 2026. Accompanying this announcement were the world premieres of two concept models, the Saloon and Space-Hub, at CES 2024. These models not only represent Honda's commitment to the next generation of EVs but also mark a significant shift in design and technology for the automotive giant.
Innovative Design and Engineering
The Saloon, the flagship model of the Honda 0 Series, showcases Honda's new approach to EV design and engineering. Built on a dedicated EV platform, it exemplifies the "M/M" man maximum/machine minimum concept with a low, wide exterior and a spacious interior. The use of sustainable materials throughout its design aligns with modern eco-friendly trends. The Saloon also introduces new steer-by-wire and motion control management systems, reflecting Honda's expertise in robotics and commitment to enhancing the driving experience in the EV era.
On the other hand, the Space-Hub is designed with the theme of "augmenting people's daily lives." It offers a spacious cabin and exceptional visibility, embodying the “Thin, Light, and Wise” development approach. The Space-Hub is designed to be a versatile and adaptable space, serving as a hub for connectivity and interaction.
New Honda “H” Mark and Series Introduction
Honda also revealed a redesigned H mark logo, exclusive to its next-generation EV models. This new emblem symbolizes Honda's historic transformation and dedication to ongoing innovation and customer satisfaction.
The Honda 0 Series represents a fresh start in the development of electrified vehicles, with the first models arriving in North America in 2026. The series is built around three core principles – Thin, Light, and Wise – that challenge conventional EV design limitations. This innovative approach is evident in the series' commitment to new design philosophies, automated driving technologies, connectivity, performance, and battery efficiency.
Forward-Looking Technologies and Designs
The Honda 0 Series will incorporate "The Art of Resonance" design philosophy, harmonizing the environment, society, and users. It will also feature an advanced driver-assistive system (ADAS) based on Honda SENSING Elite, with further advancements in automated driving (AD) technologies planned for the latter half of the 2020s.
Connected technologies are a key focus for the Honda 0 Series, with an original operating system that learns user preferences and behaviors, enhancing the overall ownership experience. Aerodynamic performance and battery efficiency are also prioritized, with the series featuring e-Axles for optimal power and efficiency, and a high-density battery offering substantial range.
