The Launch of the 2025 CR-V e:FCEV Marks A New Chapter in North American EV Innovation

Honda proudly introduces the 2025 CR-V e:FCEV, a trailblazer as the nation's initial production model of a plug-in hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle. This compact CUV stands out with its impressive 270-mile EPA driving range rating, combining robust power with ample cabin and cargo space. The integration of a newly developed U.S.-made fuel cell system and plug-in charging features makes the CR-V e:FCEV a versatile choice for both urban commutes and extended travel, offering easy home charging and rapid hydrogen refueling capabilities.

Mamadou Diallo, Senior Vice President of Auto Sales at American Honda Motor, highlights the CR-V e:FCEV's role in Honda's strategy towards carbon neutrality by 2050 and its commitment to achieving 100% zero-emission automobile sales by 2040. The vehicle's introduction is a key step in this direction, showcasing Honda's dedication to sustainable mobility.

Scheduled for customer leasing availability in California within the year, the CR-V e:FCEV is equipped with innovative features for enhanced convenience and eco-friendliness. The HondaLink system provides valuable hydrogen station, charging, and power supply information. Moreover, its Honda Power Supply Connector allows the vehicle to supply up to 1,500 watts, powering devices ranging from small home appliances to camping gear.

Honda's foray into hydrogen fuel cell technology began with the FCX in 2002, the first zero-emission FCEV certified for daily use by the EPA and CARB, and leased to individual customers. The CR-V e:FCEV, assembled at Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio, continues this pioneering spirit as the sole fuel cell electric passenger vehicle manufactured in the U.S.

The vehicle incorporates the second-generation Honda Fuel Cell Module from Michigan, enhancing system durability, efficiency, and affordability. This progress benefits from Honda's collaboration with General Motors (GM), leading to considerable cost savings and performance enhancements.

The CR-V e:FCEV's design and features set new standards, with a 270-mile emission-free driving range and up to 29 miles of EV range on a single plug-in charge. Its interior combines style, space, and comfort, supported by advanced technology including a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel, 9-inch HD touchscreen, and wireless device integration. It also includes comprehensive safety and driver-assistance technologies, reinforcing Honda's commitment to both innovation and safety.
